Who I Am and What I Do
I’m a retired professor, former journalist, and editor of AI Insider — an occasional newsletter that demystifies the world of artificial intelligence.
With decades of experience in journalism and journalism education, I became an AI enthusiast when I retired.
This website, which used to be home to my consulting business, MJ Internet Consulting, is now a springboard to my newsletter and an archive of my past exploits.
In addition to going down AI rabbit holes, I am currently an Expert in Residence at Boston University’s Spark! program at the Center for Computing and Data Science.

Johnson was part of the team that brought a digital component to NABJ’s student newsroom project in Chicago in 1978. She went on to direct the online team for many years, overseeing the training of NABJ students learning to cover news using the latest technologies.
